The Trophy Abyss, Rebecca Easton’s first novel, is an emotional narrative of a young woman’s disturbing struggle to escape from the power of a succession of manipulating and controlling people. This story takes place when the main character, Beverly White, is in her mid-twenties. She is a rebellious young woman who fights defiantly to hold true to her personal values, even though she ends up in horrific circumstances. Poverty struck as a child, Beverly flees the rural Illinois town with no hope for her future. Easton unfolds the story behind a mother and father who had abandoned Beverly, and the boyfriend who beat her. Eventually Beverly lands in Houston, Texas where she is sucked into a crueler world of treacherous high rollers and develops a twisted sense of right and wrong.
The sequel to The Trophy Abyss; Easton reveals the truth behind the false beliefs and fantasies of her main character. Beverly is an emotionally desperate young woman in search of the love she felt she’d never received. Easton enlightens readers with how Beverly's fantasies kept her in the deceptive clutches of cruel men who would promise their love and deliver only heartache. Beverly lives through abortion, rape, abuse, torture and fear. Easton created a brilliant novel that gives the true meaning of forgiveness. Beverly receives a precious gift that will change her life forever after a life altering seminar opens the gates to Beverly’s explosive memories. Easton creates a malignantly optimistic viewpoint of a realistic dramatic story with twists and intense sub-plots sure to keep the reader engrossed!
Rebecca Easton comments:
“I fell hook, line and sinker for the illusion that men would ‘take care of me,’” confesses Easton. “I wrote this novel as a process to uncover a simple truth that all young girls must face—you must believe in something greater than yourself. You must have solid values in which to build your life. If you allow someone to have control over your life, that someone will make your choices for you, and probably not in your best interest. When I blindly searched for my fantasized love and nothing else, I fell into the arms of unscrupulous men. They came to my rescue, but always for their own gain.”
Ms. Easton tours the US attending seminars for women of all ages to inspire and encourage women to have a positive approach to their own happiness. Easton believes strongly that if given encouragement and hope any woman can find that inner peace. It's in that inner peace where women come to forgiveness. "It's in forgiveness where we learn to share the love with others." Says Easton and then she quoted Country POP Star Martina McBride, "After all, love is the only house big enough for all the pain in the world."
